Bewdley MCC was founded in 1948 as Bewdley and District Motor Cycle and Light Car Club "District" was deleted from the Club name in mid 1960s . Removal of "Light Car" in the mid 1970s left the Club with the" four word title " which resolved any confusion that existed between the Club and Bewdley Car Club a different Organisation. -
The Club has competed in - or organised - trials, motocross, grasstrack racing, speedway, enduros and road-racing. The social side of club life has always been important, ranging from the infamous tramp's suppers to factory and museum visits. Occasional lectures and/or film shows are given at the Club's current headquarters, The Queen's Head in nearby Wolverley. There have been many highlights in the Club's history but here are a few:
- Grandstand TV Scramble in 1963
- Series of Bewdley Bonanza grasstracks involving World Speedway Champions
- a variety of Championship trials for both solos and sidecars
- the Bulmers Strongbow Championship motocross round
- TT Race wins
- Charity enduro to aid the rebuilding of the roof at Cleeton St Mary Church
- organising sprints in the grounds of the old Hartlebury RAF Maintenance Unit
Rather than rest on its laurels the Club is keen to evolve as the world of motorcycle sport changes and has a large
membership of all ages. Come along any Thursday to Club nights at The Queen's Head, Wolverley or join using the membership form below See you there !
