10/02/2023

It is with great sadness that I write to advise Club members and friends that our President, John Bennett, has passed away.  John has been President of Bewdley mcc for over five years and, indeed, became a member of the club back in 1955.  We will all remember John as a very, very, dedicated member - always interested in what was happening in the Club and anxious that it continued to flourish.  John and Vi always supporting us whenever they could - joining us at many of the social events -  particularly enjoying the Fish and Chip supper nights.  Personally I loved sitting next to John as he always enjoyed telling me the history of the club which I find fascinating.  In his young years John enjoyed very much scrambling and taking part in trials.  Even  when he was in service in Egypt he managed to enjoy speedway whenever he could.

All of us involved with the Club and friends alike will miss him dearly.

Our heartfelt condolences are sent to Vi and their two sons David and Paul and their grandchildren.

He will be sorely missed

John's funeral will take place on Friday 17 March at Wyre Forest Crematorium at 2,.30 p.m  Vi and family welcome everyone to the Service.

It is with great sadness that we advise members and friends that we have been advised that Monty Hughes passed away on Wednesday 9 March 2022.  Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

Monty was a great friend of John Pearson and well known by many of our members. He  rode in side car scrambles  and also enjoyed speedway racing in the early 50s and  60s.  Also travelling to the Isle of Man where his daughter now lives. He was looking forward to joining us at our Get together of Past Masters and Members Old and New on Saturday 19 March at the Pines Golf Club  when, no doubt, he would have had a tale or two to tell.

A lovely gentleman who will be sorely missed by so many.  RIP Monty from everyone at Bewdley mcc.

It is with great sadness that I write to inform all members and friends that one of our younger members, Lucy Tiibbitts, passed away on Tuesday evening 13 October 2020  following a tragic road accident together with several of her friends.  Our heartfelt condolences are sent to Zoe, Simon and their family.

IN LUCY’S MEMORY

Bewdley Motor Cycle Club will be organising a very special one maybe two day event in memory of a very special person. Lucy Tibbetts.  Lucy will always be remembered by us all as full of fun and always eager to help  raise funds at our regular events.  As a Club, we now want to return that love.

As soon as we are able, hopefully in Summer 2021, a one maybe two day fund raising, full of fun and enjoyment for all, event will be held.  The proceeds of which will be presented to Lucy’s family for a charity of their choice.  We will confirm this shortly.

Wheels are now in motion.  We already have our very own glass designer, Ryan Ashcroft, working on a beautiful bespoke glass trophy which will be presented over the weekend.

Whatever your sport please help us be able to present to Zoe, Simon and their family a cheque which will make a difference to whichever charity they choose.  You can do this by sponsoring right now by either donating or sponsoring the event. Know someone who could help please ask them to get in touch.  Lucy loved music can you or do you know someone who could help.  I know amongst the many Club members, friends and friends of friends we will without doubt be able to say our good byes to Lucy in a way which we know she would have loved.

Bewdley mcc has been in existence now for over 70 years and has supported many charities throughout its lifetime.  Lets ensure that with your help we are able to remember Lucy by  helping to change young lives through a substantial charitable donation to Zoe and Simon.   Full details on how to sponsor/donate contact club on  … 07850287209/07734761047

We received this beautiful response from Zoe and Simon.

From Zoe Louise Bence

Thank you so much from Simon and myself and our other children, knowing our motorbike family is there for us is amazing !!! . I just wanted to share with you all that we are going to be setting up Lucys very own charity in her name and memory, this charity will specifically be for Victims of Bullying, something that our beautiful daughter suffered with the whole of her school life....... for being so beautiful she was terrorised.... ironically !!!.

I know this is very close to her heart so we are going to set up a chairty that will work within the WHAT centre in stourbridge and Dudley and also directing within Lucy former high school 'Crestwood'.

We are working closely with the head mistress at Crestwood to hopefully do direct work with children that are experiencing bullying first hand, something that is currently not available. We would like to think that this could then be used as a model for other schools to use within there settings and for Lucys memory to be an inspiration for change and good.

Lucy's name meant 'BRIGHT LIGHT' and we will carry on her light shinning down here on earth .

Thankyou for supporting us it means the world to us at this tragic heartbreaking time.

Zoe, Simon and family xxxxxx
